This paper investigates the role of moisture content in coal oxidation during spontaneous combustion latency. The influence of water on the self-heating process is complex. The TTR varies dynamically with the moisture content of the coal. When the moisture content of coal is 10.28 % and 3.05 %, both TTRs are the same.
The self-combustion process was auto-catalytic and self-propagating in nature which resulted in instant high temperatures (higher than 1000 °C) that helped to form perovskite structure. TG curve ( Fig. 5) shows that the oxidation of the precursor went to completion as low as 370 °C, much lower than other methods.
Coal spontaneous combustion can cause a series of problems in terms of wasted resources, casualties, and environmental pollution. Accurate detection of the fire source in loose coal is the key to preventing coal spontaneous combustion. Acoustic temperature measurement has significant advantages of strong stability, high accuracy, …

The simulation enables the evaluation of the temperature change in a coal stockpile without any large- scale temperature measurement. The simulation results show that the heat tends to be generated at the foot of each stockpile where the breathability is high. It has also. been confirmed that the stockpile of sub-bituminous coal.
Spontaneous ignition is defined as [23 ]: "the chemical or biological process that generates sufficient heat to ignite the reacting material.". In such instances, the ignition occurs without the presence of an external ignition source: It is solely attributable to the self-heating process of the material.
The physical and chemical properties of the air-dried residual coal after soaking in the goaf will change, resulting in an increase in its spontaneous combustion tendency. This study aimed to look into the features and mechanism of soaked-dried coal''s spontaneous combustion. Five samples of coal were dried to various degrees, and the …
The heat accumulated by the LTO of coal is the power source of coal self-ignition 4. The essence of self-ignition of coal is a complex oxidation kinetic process in which coal and oxygen undergo ...

The combustion of agricultural storage represents a big hazard to the safety and quality preservation of crops during lengthy storage times. Cotton storage is considered more prone to combustion for many reasons, i.e., heat by microbial growth, exothermic and endothermic reactions in storage areas, and extreme weather conditions …

Coal spontaneous combustion is a common problem faced by many coal mines. Spontaneous combustion in goaf releases a large amount of harmful gases, polluting the environment while causing a large amount of wasted resources, and even endangering the lives of workers. Due to the collapse of the interior of the mining area, it …
Spontaneous combustion or spontaneous ignition is a type of combustion which occurs by self-heating (increase in temperature due to exothermic internal reactions ), followed by thermal runaway (self heating which rapidly accelerates to high temperatures) and finally, autoignition. [1] It is distinct from (but has similar practical …
During coal storage and transportation, spontaneous combustion occurs occasionally. Heat pipes, as new fire prevention technology, have been applied and explored in the prevention and control of spontaneous combustion in coal yards. This paper combines the mechanism of spontaneous combustion in coal yards and the …

Spontaneous combustion is a unique phenomenon whereby combustibles in the air cause heat to accumulate even in the absence of an external source of fire, and eventually burn due to self-heating. Theoretically, this is a spontaneous process caused by a heat imbalance [ [1], [2], [3] ].
